Colby Community College is accepting applications for a full-time Grounds Supervisor. Under the supervision of the Facilities Supervisor, the Grounds Supervisor performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled buildings and grounds maintenance activities for the purpose of maintaining the proper appearance of the college facilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance activities for campus grounds that include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain and operate equipment such as mowers, edgers, and trimmers;
- Mow, weed eat, and groom flower beds;
- Apply herbicides and pesticides as needed;
- Repair and adjust sprinkler systems;
- Identify and repair water line leaks;
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on Electrical systems, Heating and cooling systems, Ice machines, steam machines, and classroom/lab equipment;
- Set forms and pour cement;
- Erect and remove snow barriers or clear snow as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Knowledge of safe operation and maintenance of lawn care equipment, power tools, and small engines.
- Ability to perform manual tasks requiring moderate physical strength in all weather conditions.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions with the capacity to read and interpret labels, follow oral and written communication, and work independently.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations of students, faculty, staff and external constituencies.
SALARY
$42,000-$48,000 per year, depending on experience.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required;
- Minimum of one year of experience in buildings and grounds maintenance is preferred.;
- A CDL with Air Brakes Certification is strongly preferred;
- Must possess a valid Kansas driver’s license;
- Must have the ability to follow work schedules (Winter Hours: 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; Summer Hours: 7:00 a.m.-4:00 pm).
- Possession of a telephone and reliable transportation is highly desirable.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Most work is performed outdoors in hot, cold, or inclement weather. Additional duties entail working in environmentally controlled buildings. Exposure to fumes, noxious odors, dust, mists, gases, and hazardous chemicals exists.

Compensación: $42,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year

Colby Community College is located in northwest Kansas, approximately 50 miles from the Nebraska and Colorado borders. From a humble beginning of 99 students in 1964, CCC now serves more than 2,000 students annually.
In addition to a 57-acre main campus, a 60-acre farm is used as a hands-on laboratory and training facility. The College also accommodates hundreds of off-campus students through face-to-face, online, and hybrid courses.
